Psychology Assistant
Location: Amsterdam, NY                                             
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Supervising Behavior Intervention Specialist                                                      
Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting, ability to perform physical intervention techniques, ability to lift 50lbs.
Hours of Work: Full Time, Mon-Fri 37.5 hours a week. Some travel required.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in the field of Psychology
  • At least 1 year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities
    • OR/ special training in the field
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • The ability to read, write and speak the English language

Major Responsibilities:
The overall duties center around providing behavioral supports to individuals along with providing training and instruction.
  • Provide psychological/behavioral services to individuals in programs, maintaining compliance with department and agency policy/procedure, state, local and federal regulations
  • Record and maintain individual’s behavioral records in compliance with all department and agency policies/procedures as well as all state, local and federal regulations
  • Facilitate trainings at program sites and provide documentation of the trainings, attend site staff meetings
  • Provide behavioral training to agency personnel to include, orientation, in home and work site
  • Attend psychiatric appointments with individuals
  • Communication that is appropriate, accurate and timely
  • Provide crisis prevention and emergency crisis support
  • Collect & analyze data, observe individuals to provide feedback to BIS for support plan
  • Other duties and trainings as assigned
