Custodian I (Nights)
Location: Amsterdam, NY                                             
Reports To: Custodial Supervisor(Nights)                                                                  
Physical Requirements: Lift up to 50 lbs., Standing, bending, walking, climbing, twisting, kneeling, stretching, crawling, crouching.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, as assigned – 4pm-12:30am. Overtime as needed.
Job Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in custodial services.
  • Good working knowledge of cleaning equipment and procedures.
  • Minimum of 1 year floor care experience with the ability to operate floor cleaning equipment.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s license.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Maintain facilities according to specifications for custodial maintenance as assigned.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition as specified by manufacturer.
  • Maintain materials inventory and request materials as necessary.
  • Follow all department/agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide person centered individual attention to all consumers.
  • Maintain high level of cleanliness in assigned areas.
  • Complete floor buffing, stripping and waxing.
  • Complete carpet cleaning and shampooing.
  • Follow all agency Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Follow safe operating procedures with regard to use of tools of the trade. This includes the use of knives and cutting devices in the course of work. This position is exempt from the knives restriction as outlined in the Workplace Violence Prevention Policy as knives are considered tools of the trade.
