Behavior Specialist/Social Worker
 
Location: Amsterdam, NY                                             
FLSA: Exempt
Reports To:  Supervising Behavior Specialist                                            
Physical Requirements:  Normal Office Environment, may need to assist with SCIP techniques             
Hours of Work: Full-time, 37.5 hours/wk, Mon-Fri 8:30a-4:30p                            
                           Flexible schedule, some travel required 
                                               
                                                                                                                         
Job Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • NYS Social Work License preferred but not required
  • Master’s degree in a field of Psychology
  • At least one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities or special training in the field.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language 
     
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The overall duties center on providing behavioral supports to individuals along with providing training and instruction:
  • Provide Psychological/Behavioral supports to individuals in programs, maintaining compliance with Department and Agency policy/procedure, State, local, and Federal regulations.
  • Record and maintain individual’s behavioral records in compliance with all department and agency policies/procedures as well as all state, local, and federal regulations.
  • Provide behavioral training to agency personnel to include, orientation in home and work site.
  • Communication that is appropriate, accurate and timely.
  • Additional caseload coverage as assigned
  • Pursue personal/professional development and attend mandated agency training as required.
  • Provide individuals with group and family therapy collaboratively with psychologist, treatment team in developing behavior support plans and monitoring of plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and recommended.
  • Collaborate with individuals served, psychologist and treatment team to develop holistic approach to planning process and challenging needs.
  • Serve as contact for family members in need of support
  • Monitor implementation of plans and act as liaison between programs to ensure consistency in supports.
  • Provide detailed communications between family members and teams.
  • Provide recommendations to teams that are struggling to ensure a thorough review and holistic approach.
