 Agritourism Educator and Outreach Intern

Location:  Mohawk Valley Welcome Center, Montgomery County, NY                         
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Welcome Center Manager               
Physical Requirements: Occasional lifting up to 20lbs, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching and twisting. 
Hours of Work: Some weekend, evening and holiday work is required. Part time up to 480 hours per internship.
Pay: $14.20
 

Job Summary: 
The agritourism educator and outreach intern facilitates and provides support to vendors and the operations at the Mohawk Valley Welcome Center to advance, enhance and promote the agribusiness and agritourism objectives of Taste NY.

Job Qualifications:
  1. Must have approval by a college to participate in an internship.
  2. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  3. Must have a NYS Driver’s License that meets Agency Standards.    
 
Major Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate and participate at events such as B2B expo, farmers’ markets, New York State Fair, and/or other promotional events as applicable.
  2. Assist Mohawk Valley Welcome Center staff in selection and development of products, including outreach to local agricultural community.
  3. Help ensure that vendors have all necessary federal, state, and local licenses and/or permits for each product.
  4. Provide consultation and/or assist with content development for social media. All Taste NY branded content must be pre-approved by AGM.  
  5. Consult on vending machine offerings and product rotation, including procurement and merchandising, to provide focus on regional offerings and appropriate NYS agricultural commodities.
  6. Explore, provide and support strategies including educational and other to improve agribusiness performance, best agribusiness management and marketing practices.
